Possession of Xanax Texas

In Texas, Alprazolam (trade name Xanax) is assigned to Penalty Group 3 under Section 481.104 of the Texas Health and Safety Code. The factors that determine the penalties for a drug offense include: 1) the type of drug, 2) the amount, and 3) what you intended to do with the drug.

Xanax is commonly prescribed and FDA approved for the medical treatment of panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), social anxiety disorder (SAD) and other anxiety disorders. Xanax is taken orally and possesses sedative, hypnotic, skeletal muscle relaxant, and anticonvulsant properties.

There is a substantial risk of abuse and dependence in patients and non-medical users of alprazolam (Xanax) and it is one of the most commonly prescribed and misused benzodiazepines in the United States. Benzodiazepines are recreationally the most illegally abused pharmaceuticals because of their widespread availability.
